8 WWE Champions With Surprisingly Limited Move Sets

2. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan is to wrestling what Michael Jordan is to basketball. Hulk Hogan is to wrestling what Phil Jackson is to coaching. Hulk Hogan is to wrestling what Babe Ruth is to baseball. But being that iconic does not mean he was a great wrestler on the mat. Hogan showed a lot of promise in his early days, especially during his time in Japan, but when Vince McMahon pushed him everything changed. He was another Superstar who was more theatrical than technical, and fans loved him for it. If they wanted to watch a master class they could go watch Ricky Steamboat face Ric Flair. They watched Hulk Hogan because he was Hulk Freakin' Hogan. Even the most jaded of fans remembers getting excited when Hulk would shake his head and fists as his opponent tried to keep beating on him, because they knew he was Hulking up. That moment when he would begin no-selling his opponent's offense would see the fans would get louder, and then he would do the iconic point while the entire crowd would say "You!" in unison. Hulk would hit a few punches, a big boot and then drop the leg for the 1-2-3. It was always exciting, but that kind of thing wouldn't fly today. Even Superstars like John Cena, who is always accused of being stale in the ring, have to evolve and add new things to their arsenal to compete with the hungry young stars like Seth Rollins, who can do just about anything he wants to inside the squared circle. Hulk Hogan is awesome, but he is also the definition of using the "Five moves of doom."
