With repetition, sometimes a well-worn joke can eventually become amusing again, simply because of how ludicrous the excessive recursion has grown. However, go too far, and it cycles back around to the start. That's the case with The New Day.

It wouldn't be unfair to say the Booty-O's have turned stale. The trio's sell-by date passed a long time back, yet WWE have been determined to try and eke out every last drop of their evaporating popularity. Unless the act freshens up, it seems 'New Day Sucks' could be ringing out in arenas once again.

But there's no chance they'll drop the titles to the team of Sheamus and Cesaro - Shemaro - at HIAC. It isn't about rational booking sense. It isn't about providing pay-off for the two months spent building Ceamus as a team. Rather, whilst the team may be the longest reigning WWE Tag Team champions, it's about breaking Demolition's long-held world tag title record, something the company now views as irrelevant trivia. They feel it's necessary to take ownership of an apparently outdated accolade and place a modern stamp on it, which can be promoted endlessly on today's television.

Just over a month short of the magic number, expect The New Day to hold on just that little bit longer.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
