8 WWE Matches That Should Have Meant Way More

2. Bret Hart vs. Mr. McMahon (WrestleMania XXVI)

Almost 13 years following the infamous 'Montreal Screwjob', the iconic Bret Hart was going to get his hands on Vince McMahon at last. The match between retired wrestler and ageing evil owner was never going to be an in-ring classic, but it could have been a brilliant ending to a story drenched in bitterness and reality.

Unfortunately, it wasn't. Fans at 'Mania XXVI even started to feel sorry for a pitiful McMahon as he was viciously beaten with a steel chair by a vengeful Hart. That was the complete opposite of what the match was supposed to achieve. People were meant to party along with the Hart family as they gained revenge on he who had screwed them.

11 minutes of slow-moving chair shots later, those who had invested so much into the story of retribution were left numb. Hart won, yes, but McMahon was unable to fight back due to Bret's inability to bump around the ring. One of wrestling's most shockingly real rivalries fizzled out rather than coming to a satisfying end.
