8 WWE Monsters Who Had Their Push Killed By John Cena
2. Bray Wyatt
WWE had all the ingredients to make Bray Wyatt one of the all-time greats.
In an era that prides itself on reality, Wyatt stood out as a reminder of the good old supernatural days as he possessed an aura similar to the likes of The Undertaker and Kane. With his eerie Wyatt Family and cryptic promos, he was incredibly alluring, and he ultimately proved himself in the ring when he defeated Kane.
All that momentum carried him right up until WrestleMania XXX when he faced John Cena in a match that saw Wyatt try to get Cena to find the darkness within him (seriously why do they keep pushing this pointless angle?). This would lead to a decent (but forgettable) match, worsened by a cringe-worthy segment in which the referee pleaded with an angrily over-the-top Cena on the cusp of finishing Bray, telling him "You don't want to do this, it's not who you are!".
Ironically, burying Bray Wyatt is exactly what the character of John Cena had been booked to do, so of course he won and, in doing so, proved that his light could outshine anyone's darkness — as if we needed reminding of this in 2014.
Though Wyatt would obtain a win later in the feud, it didn't matter — Cena won when it counted and no-sold all of 'The Eater of Worlds' mind games. With that, Wyatt's allure was completely tainted and, he subsequently found himself on the losing end of 90% of his feuds.
Let's hope his intriguing new persona can save him.
