In 1998 the then-World Wrestling Federation ran a short-lived NWA Invasion angle. Jim Cornette was at the head of it, and he brought some of the tradition back to Monday Night RAW in a story that began with Jeff Jarrett and Barry Windham doing battle over the vacant NWA Heavyweight Championship. All of this led to a stable being formed, including the return of the Rock n' Roll Express.

If the Rn'R Express are around then the chances are the Midnight Express aren't too far behind. and that was the case here. The only problem was that instead of Dennis Condrey and Bob Eaton we get Bart Gunn and Bob Holly, or Bodacious Bart and Bombastic Bob. Needless to say, you don't need to be an obsessive Bob Holly fan to know that the guy isn't exactly bombastic.

The entire angle, story, invasion and duo bombed, and lasted less than a year. Jim Cornette has since said that he doesn't consider this duo to be a part of the Midnight Express lineage, despite his involvement. All around, it is best left forgotten.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
