7. Matt Hardy

Of all the names featured in this piece, this one seems like the biggest no-brainer of the lot.

It's extremely public knowledge that Matt Hardy's WWE contract is due to expire this March, and it's likewise public knowledge that the eldest of the Hardy Boyz has turned down any potential contract extension due to being creatively unhappy in WWE.

For his part, Matt believes that he still has more to offer the wrestling world, both in-ring and out, and Hardy's wife Rebecca has regularly taken to Twitter to suggest that WWE has outright turned down any creative suggestions the Woken One has made for his character.

Hardy is one of the brightest wrestling minds in the business today, yet WWE seemingly has it set in stone that they don't view him as having any significant role in the company going forward. While the legendary grappler's in-ring days are clearly winding down as injuries begin to take their toll, there's still so much more that Matt Hardy can offer to the business on a host of levels.

Regardless, WWE's inevitable loss could most certainly be another promotion's gain - particularly with rumblings of Hardy being revealed as The Dark Order's Exalted One over in AEW.

With how he was left decimated yet again at the hands of Randy Orton on this Monday's episode of Raw, we may have already seen the last of Matt Hardy in a WWE ring.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
