8 WWE Tag Team Stars Who Couldn't Cut It As Singles
6. D-Von Dudley
Unlike many of the names on this here list, D-Von Dudley didn't really hop from one team to another with any sort of regularity. He has spent most of his career tagging with Bubba as the Dudley Boys. You might say that they've had a pretty decent run, all things considered.
But there was a period of time where D-Von was forced to fly solo. Well, almost. The 2002 WWE Draft separated the former WWE, ECW and WCW Tag Team Champions as Bubba went to Raw and D-Von moved to Smackdown. Bubba continued to do his usual thing, often teaming with Spike Dudley, whilst D-Von was given a totally new gimmick.
He was now 'Reverend' D-Von, a crooked preacher who enlisted the help of his muscle and sometime partner 'Deacon' Batista to help him win matches. The pair split pretty quickly, though, and D-Von hooked up with Ron Simmons in a short-lived team that screamed 'we have nothing for these two well-respected veterans but still want them on the show'.
It didn't take WWE long to realise that their experiment had failed and they reunited the Dudley Boys at Survivor Series 2002, six months after they were forced to go their separate ways. While Bubba did manage to have a successful singles run as Bully Ray in TNA, D-Von has yet to prove that he can get it done on his own.
