Look at the above picture. Didn't they just instantly add credibility to the tag team scene? Those are two legitimate superstars holding the World Tag Team Titles and they have a clever, marketable tag name. While they'll rightly be remembered for their stellar singles careers, it would be sad for Randy Orton and Edge's time as Rated-RKO to be overlooked. The two dastardly heels formed an alliance in October 2006 in order to battle these cheeky DX boys. Orton and Egde felt that DX were stopping them from fulfilling their potential and holding them back for taking up TV time that, by rights, should have gone to them. Fans who were tired of the DX nostalgia tour certainly agreed with them. The Rated-RKO/DX feud lasted into the new year but was brought to a screeching halt when Triple H legitimately blew out his quad during their grudge match at New Year's Revolution. With The Game on the bench, Orton and Edge continued to wage war with Michaels but lost their titles to HBK and John Cena on Raw. Rated-RKO broke up in April 2007 and had the customary short feud with each other (they had a scorcher on the April 30th episode of Raw). It all felt a little bit premature. I mean, sure, Orton and Edge could easily slot right back into the main event picture (Edge would be called on to headline the Smackdown brand in May), but they could have really had a great run as a tag team. The fact we never got full-on Hardy Boys versus Rated-RKO feud is a terrible shame.
