8 WWE WrestleMania Main Events With Terrible Builds

6. Hulk Hogan Vs. King Kong Bundy (WrestleMania 2)

WrestleMania was built up with huge pomp and circumstance, with top stars Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper rubbing elbows with huge celebrities like Mr. T and Cyndi Lauper. WrestleMania III was built with one of the greatest angles of all time, when André the Giant finally turned heel and ripped Hulk Hogan's cross on an episode of Piper's pit.

WrestleMania 2, by comparison, was built only on one angle, and it was a lot lamer. In a match with Don Muraco, the enormous King Kong Bundy ran in and attacked Hogan, delivering a splash to his ribs and (kayfabe) injuring the Hulkster. No other development was made aside from Hogan disregarding doctors' advice and accepting Bundy's challenge for a title match inside a steel cage.

Granted, this was during a time when there wasn't a show like RAW on which development was expected every week. However, when you look at what was put into the build for 'Manias I and III, the build for 2 just looks really lackluster by comparison.

It's no wonder no one looks back at golden age Hulkamania and thinks "Wow, remember when Bundy squashed Hogan's ribs?"
