Six years passed before a third man won both the WWE and Intercontinental Championships in the same year. That man was none other than wrestling's greatest ever rookie, Kurt Angle, who lit up the first year of the new millennium by winning championship gold left, right, and centre.

February 2000 was an incredible month for Angle. At its beginning, Angle defeated Val Venis to become the European Champion. Angle followed that up by defeating Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship at No Way Out, becoming the third and final Eurocontinental Champion in the process.

Angle lost both belts at WrestleMania 2000, but come No Mercy in October the 'Olympic Hero' was smiling once again. Angle defeated The Rock at that event to win his first ever WWF Championship. Once again miscommunication led to the finish, this time Rikishi booting The Rock, but Angle didn't care - he was champion once more.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
