2. Randy Couture Was There When Kurt Angle Won His Gold Medal

The penultimate legend, like Mike Tyson before him, was another non-pro-wrestler who was nevertheless steeped in the business, Randy Couture. He immediately makes his case for appearing the doc, citing amateur wrestling (he was an All-American in collegiate wrestling, and studied Greco-Roman for a time) as the being the foundation of his fighting. Couture has become one of the most highly-regarded MMA fighters in history, being one of the biggest figures involved in building the brand of UFC, but what some non-MMA fans might not know about him was that he was within a hair of wrestling for the USA in the Olympics, becoming an alternate, but never making the team proper. In a story sure to make fans salivate at the prospect of an MMA/Pro-wrestling crossover comeback match between the two, Couture describes being present for Kurt Angle's Gold medal win, before watching with pride as Angle transferred seamlessly into the world of the WWF. Hearing the story, it's tempting to imagine what could have happened if Couture had made the team. Perhaps he would've never branched out into MMA, would be an amateur wrestling coach today, and maybe, just maybe, might have joined Angle in coming to work for Vince.
