As an opening side note, Cesaro and Tyson Kidd were a slick pairing who didn't get to fulfil their potential due to Kidd's career-wrecking injury. Back in 2015 though, the duo were on fire and looked to wrestle the WWE Tag-Team Titles back from The New Day at Payback. New Day had only just won the belts at Extreme Rules.

In total, The New Day's first reign as champs lasted 49 days. That might not seem so short, but it pales in comparison to the epic 483-day stretch they'd enjoy from SummerSlam 2015 onwards. Earlier that year, New Day were let down by the writers, because their initial run didn't feature much excitement other than this Payback bout.

Worse, New Day lost the titles to The Prime Time Players at Money In The Bank. Still, they can look on at the match with Cesaro and Kidd with pride. This was one of the best tag matches of the entire year, and part of the division's healing process under New Day's dominance.
