9 Best Post-Royal Rumble WWE Raw Moments

5. Benoit Swiches Brands (2004)

Chris Benoit's decision to fight Triple H - and not Brock Lesnar - at WrestleMania XX is actually kind of baffling in hindsight. It meant that he was effectively ducking his brand's champion and setting his sights on a title that had only existed about a year, compared to one with a lineage going back more than 40 years.

Let's completely set that to one side for a moment, though, so we can enjoy how cool it was to see one of SmackDown's biggest hitters join the Monday Night Raw fray out of the blue - something that was still a novelty back in the early days of the brand extension, before Batista started doing double duty nearly every God damn week.

WWE presumably expected something of a split audience going into their 'Mania triple threat main event, with some fans cheering for Benoit and the traditionalists sticking with Shawn Michaels - but that's not what happened at all when the Rabid Wolverine came out at the behest of Stone Cold.

HBK's own ambitions were almost immediately forgotten, with the Raw crowd unanimously agreed that Benoit should finally be given a deserved shot at wrestling's biggest prize (or failing that, HHH's big, gold, worthless belt).
