From one moment that was genuinely traumatising, we move
onto one that was genuinely touching.
When Nia Jax was drafted at the end of the 5th round, there were plenty of shocked reactions. But none more so than that of Nia herself, who seemed so certain that she wouldn’t be drafted that she was actually texting at the moment her name was called out.
What followed was a look of total astonishment and a visible gasp of breath. There were heart-felt hugs from NXT colleagues and Sara Del Rey - the trainer responsible for her rise to the top - as she was ceremonially handed her new Raw-branded t-shirt.
It was an awesome moment caught by the cameras, though one that I doubt Nia will be forgetting in hurry. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the decision to call her up so soon, it’s hard to argue that this wasn’t one of the more memorable Draft reactions in history.
It’s still real to some, dammit!
