TNA and gimmick matches, it just never, ever ends. Yes, things aren’t as bad as they used to be with weekly object on a pole matches, but the company continues killing off the interest in all of their big stipulation matches, and they don’t even think twice about doing it. Check out just this summer on Impact:

Aug. 17 - Four Way Tag Team Ladder Match.July 28 - Lashley vs. DJ Z - Ladder Match.July 21 - Lashley vs. Eddie Edwards - Cage Match.July 14 - Six Man Ladder Match.July 5 - Ultimate X Match, Final Deletion.June 21 - Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy - Cage Match.

Besides Final Deletion, you can’t really say any of those matches really gave them a boost. Since every concept is being watered down, you can’t even promote a cage match a week or two ahead of time and expect people to care. They keep throwing them out there without any consequences or interesting fall-out.

With Billy’s knowledge of the history of the business, he should know that gimmick matches should be saved for big events, or to settle rivalries, not to open up Impact and kill 10 minutes of TV time.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
