9 Biggest Opportunities WWE Missed At Wrestlemania 32

The grandest damp squib of them all.

WrestleMania 32 Ladder Match

According to tawdry internet mothers and their motivational photographs of glistening beaches and sunsets, success is just what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Which is odd, because there was loads of opportunity at WrestleMania, but very, very little success.

Despite the inordinate amount of injuries going in, the card managed to look quite appealing. A ladder match with enough chemical elements to spring a few surprises, two giants of the industry presumably passing a torch, a beast vs a brawler, the dawning of a new era of women's wrestling, Taker/Shane in a cell, and a main event that couldn't possibly end predictably. Yet another WrestleMania that, despite the odds, WWE were going to knock out of the park.

Yet, as the 100,000 trotted out of the AT&T Centre with confetti in their hair and throats horse from booing, the overriding feeling was one of immense disappointment as so many matches had delivered in the ring, but somehow ended in disappointment. Lots of memorable moments sure, but precious few of those iconic WrestleMania moments tickets are bought and fought over.

All the raw ingredients were there, but through a combination of bad booking, unambitous storytelling and downright idiocy, WWE someone managed to take an evening pregnant with opportunity, and deliver one of most deflating WrestleManias in history.
