9 Bold Predictions For Post-WrestleMania RAW & SmackDown
5. The Beginning Of The Undertaker's Retirement Angle & Match
As of the time of this writing, there’s no strong indicator either way on who is going to be victorious in the Roman Reigns/Undertaker match this Sunday at WrestleMania. Hardcore fans will consider it a personal insult if “The Big Dog” claims the WWE as his “yard”, while reports have the company brass worried that Taker’s final bout is upon us.
I can’t imagine Vince McMahon wants to see his greatest creation ride off into the sunset with so little fanfare, so if there's any possible way to coax yet one more 'Mania out of The Deadman, he's going to find a way to do so. My prediction is that we set things in motion a year in advance in much the same way WWE did with Cena/Rock.
I'm proposing that, win or lose, The Undertaker will appear on Raw and claim that he's done all there is to do in his lengthy career, proceeding to put over Roman Reigns as being a worthy opponent, verbally fellating him as other WWE stars have been prone to do at the behest of their bosses.
Then, he's interrupted by the sound of "My Time Is Now".
As the trumpets blare, the newly-engaged John Cena (that one's totally happening) makes his way to the ring to issue a challenge to The Phenom - the story being that both have fulfilled every career goal they've ever set for themselves, and with The Undertaker looking to hang up his coat and black hat and Cena settling into the comfort of married life, it's time for both of them to put it all on the line.
This will set up a retirement match between the two for WrestleMania 34, giving us the one "dream match" WWE has left in the tank (even if it is five years or so past its maximum impact) allowing Taker to "pass the torch" - as if Cena needs more torches - one final time, going out with all the pomp and circumstance his remarkable career calls for.
