9 Directions WWE Champion Sheamus Can Go From Here

1. A Very Short Reign

The general internet reaction towards Sheamus' cash-in seems to have been negative - understandably so. The Celtic Warrior is essentially a midcarder, and suddenly finds himself steering WWE's uncertain main event scene for the foreseeable future. We've gone from Seth Rollins - a bonafide main event superstar, with limitless talent and a blossoming heel persona - to a man whose best days appear to be half a decade ago; and we've done so in a matter of weeks. Perhaps the best possible course of action would be to hit the reset button. WWE could have Sheamus come out and cut a boastful promo on an upcoming addition of Raw, only for Brock Lesnar's music to hit. Have him F5 the champion, set up a quick title match at TLC, and have him take back the championship. Treating the Celtic Warrior as a transitional champ wouldn't necessarily be seen as a cop-out by WWE fans; it would certainly seem a more honest course of action, at the very least. Additionally, having Brock as the champ going into WrestleMania would guarantee a more high-profile main event. It worked this year, and it would work again in 2016 - more than a main event featuring Sheamus, sadly.
