The 2017 G1 Climax saw the end of the line for Yuji Nagata. 'Blue Justice' was one of the standout performers of the entire tournament, putting on classic match after classic match. Nagata's bouts with Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii will live long in the memory, and are required watching for anyone looking to get a true sense of 2017's G1.

It wasn't a successful tournament on the points side of things for Nagata, who picked up just the one win throughout the tournament. Nagata's points tally was matched in B Block by Satoshi Kojima, another of the Third Generation that time seems to have forgotten. Kojima managed to defeat SANADA, but valiantly lost to everyone else in the block.

2016 was the final G1 for Hiroyoshi Tenzan, whilst 2017 was the end for Yuji Nagata. It is likely that 2018 will be the last G1 Climax for the 2010 winner.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
