Bound for Glory 2016 once again featured the Bound for Glory Gauntlet match, a veritable mess of bout where the winner is granted the opportunity to challenge for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Eli Drake outlasted Jesse Godderz and Tyrus to win the 2016 edition, and the entire world shrugged and moved on.

The Gauntlet match has proved to be a bust two years in a row, so I would predict that by next year the match itself will be replaced by a more traditional multi-man match with a future title shot on the line. Sure, this may elicit screams of 'TNA is copying WWE!', but pretty much every promotion has some form of this these days.

It can be a ladder match, a King of the Mountain match or whatever, with a briefcase, contract, medallion or sash on the line. The winner? Keith Lee. Mark my words. Lee has recently begun to make his mark in Ring of Honor after impressing on the independent scene, and is solidly from the Willie Mack school of 'big dude who is crazy strong and terrifyingly athletic'.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
