9 Greatest Factions Never To Appear In WWE

4. The Dangerous Alliance

One of the most underrated groups in wrestling history, Paul Heyman's Dangerous Alliance was a team of all stars if there ever was.

Consisting of Steve Austin, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko, Bobby Eaton and Rick Rude, the stable terrorised WCW from the outset of 1991. Flanked by Madusa and the ever-present Heyman (complete with trademark mobile phone), the band of business-like bullies became the most dominant faction in the sport.

The Alliance originally had its roots in Verne Gagne's AWA territory, consisting of Adrian Adonis and The Midnight Express. However, it wasn't until the revived group made its debut in WCW that things really began to pick up speed. From late '91 to late '92, they collected the WCW TV Title, World Tag Team Titles and US Championship, as well as headlining several PPV events.

Perhaps the most memorable bout of their tenure was the violent WarGames match at WrestleWar '92. The Dangerous Alliance squared off against Sting's Squadron, which was made up of Barry Windham, Dustin Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Nikita Koloff and, of course, Sting. The bout achieved a rare "five star" rating from The Wrestling Observer - the last match in WCW history to do so.

Ultimately, the group disbanded in late '92, with each wrestler going their separate ways as Heyman left the company under bitter circumstances.
