9 Indie Stars Who Didn't Catch On In WWE

8. Frankie Kazarian

One half of the current Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions with Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian was a seven-year veteran by the time he arrived in World Wrestling Entertainment in 2005. Kazarian had spent the early part of his career working in and around California and making a name for himself in ROH and TNA.

Big things were expected of Kazarian in WWE, and he was quickly established in Velocity as a true force in the cruiserweight division. Kazarian picked up victories against Scotty 2 Hotty, Paul London, Nunzio and Funaki, meaning he defeated pretty much the entire babyface side of the division. Less than a month after arriving on WWE TV however, Kazarian was gone.

He's done well for himself since however, winning multiple titles in TNA and ROH. The WWE cruiserweight division was as good as dead by the time Kazarian turned up, so he was probably wise not to cut his hair.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
