Vince McMahon's purchase of WCW wasn't as easy as the WWE owner saying 'give it to me, it's mine'. There were several parties interested in the acquisition, chief among them Fusient Media Ventures, who at one point looked poised to take over the ailing league. Ultimately, they backed out of the deal, clearing the way for Vince to swoop in and buy his competition for a pittance. However, that wasn't the end of it, because Macho Man Randy Savage was also interested in possibly purchasing the company. Yes, that's right, the unhinged Savage threw his hat into the ring in the eleventh hour. According to Bob Ryder, Savage made a bid to buy WCW from AOL Time Warner after Fusient Media backed out. Apparently, Savage was most interested in WCW's extensive tape library, one of the company's biggest assets. Since the WWE were in deep negotiations with AOL Time Warner officials, Savage's bid was a little late and never seriously considered. Could you imagine if Savage, who was a multi-millionaire after years of being frugal on the road, had bought WCW?
