9 Match Star Ratings For AEW Fyter Fest
2. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks Vs. The Lucha Bros. & Laredo Kid
Messier and slightly more disjointed than was ideal, this furious, brutal, preposterous six-man was nonetheless a Total F*cking Banger that presented the most big-time (and unhinged) version of a style beloved by AEW's audience.
Some of the sequences were unreal, particularly those pulled off by Nick Jackson and Fénix, whose ability to contort their bodies and defy the cruel pranks of the wrestling rope is just outrageous. Laredo Kid surely bagged further U.S. bookings on the strength of his tight, physical performance, highlighted by a killer suicide dive almost as crunching and fast as Dragon Lee's. Pentagon seemed to simply enjoy exchanging Canadian Destroyers with anybody that fancied it, in a weirdly entertaining subplot in a match with a main plot of 'Let's square up before inflicting brain damage from great heights and in very cool-looking ways'.
Kenny Omega created anticipation for his next singles match in a performance so enthusiastic and lively and explosive that it's a wonder he didn't kick some poor prick's head off their shoulders. He has missed this as much as we've missed him.
A match calibrated perfectly to make you swear in disbelief at the top of your f*cking voice, this was as great as it was guaranteed to be - the sort of guaranteed Holy Sh*t-level quality that establishes a loyal core audience.
