9 More Things We Learned From Shawn Michaels On Talk Is Jericho Part 2

3. His Relationship With Vince

Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon have always seemed to have a close relationship, as Vince has stuck with him during some rough times where other talents may not have gotten the same amount of leeway that Shawn did. He says that his boss always liked the creative sparring, so why would he not engage with him? Michaels recounts the stories of Vince everyone has heard a million times of how a wrestler would head into McMahon's office to tell him they didn't like something they were being asked to do with every intent of refusing and they emerge a few minutes later talked into it, and he says he wasn't that guy. "Sorry buddy, I'm not buying this car." He says he would push back up until the point refusing became a fireable offense, then he'd relent. Jericho asks if there were ever times where he got to that point, and Shawn replies in the affirmative. He says if it came down to it, he'd do it if it was something Vince wanted done. Chris likens it to being asked to work with Fandango at WrestleMania 29 - something he was adamantly against - and says he argued until his boss said it was either that or quit, so he caved in and did his best to make it good. Shawn admits that Vince may have been a little softer with him because back then there were still options for wrestlers, but says he never once considered jumping to WCW. He doesn't know if McMahon knew he felt that way, but he himself never used it as leverage.
