9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Surprises Ever

8. Fake Razor, Fake Diesel

Good lord this was stupid. On a number of occasions, Vince McMahon and the WWF/E creative team had the genius (ie: not genius) idea to turn Jim Ross of all people heel. Announcer alignment turns very rarely create any interest, not least when you're trying to turn the most beloved of his kind to the bad side.

Not only that, but it was attempted way back in 1996 via JR bringing Razor Ramon and Diesel back to the company. For weeks, Ross claimed he was bringing them back, and when the duo finally appeared on RAW they did so to some exceptionally tired groans. Yeah, fakes they were, and we're talking dollar store fakes at that.

Ironically, fake Razor Ramon would go on to join nWo Japan after his WWF stint ended.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
