6. Awesome Videos, Underwhelming Reveal

This is a strange one, as it takes two excellent individual things and proves that gold plus gold can often equal bronze. Towards the end of 2011 a number of excellent vignettes were played talking about 2012 being the beginning of the end, or more accurately that in 2012 'the End Begins'. The videos took place in a creepy school and were generally narrated by a creepy school-kid. In short, they were awesome.

The reveal came, and the reveal turned out to be none other than Y2J, Chris Jericho. Jericho came out in a crazy lit-up jacket and proceeded to troll the crowd completely, saying nothing and leaving. All of that build up, for that? Okay, it wasn't terrible, but the two were not mutually compatible.

The videos built up the idea that something major was about to change, but what we got was a silent Jericho who then finished runner-up in a Royal Rumble he obviously should have won.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
