9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Surprises Ever

4. Hornswoggle 1 - The Anonymous General Manager

I might as well just get these two out of the way back to back. The running joke is that if something or someone is going to be the secret reveal to a story, the chances are that person is going to be Hornswoggle. Well, this will no longer be the case as the Little Bastard has been released from WWE, but he was indeed the reveal for two high-profile stories that simply demanded a better outcome.

For one whole year, Monday Night RAW was controlled by an Anonymous General Manager, who sent emails to a laptop to be read out by Michael Cole. This was the state of affairs for one year, and even then it was never revealed as to who the man in charge was.

The reveal came yet another year later, during the 998th episode of RAW. It was Hornswoggle, in what amounted to nothing more than a sweeping under the carper (sweeping under the ring) of a major storyline that WWE clearly had no idea where they were going with from start to end.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
