9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Surprises Ever

3. Hornswoggle 2 - The Illegitimate Son

Why Mr. Kennedy, why?! Rumour has it that Ken Kennedy was going to be revealed as Vince McMahon's illegitimate son in 2007, but a Wellness Program violation put an end to his planned monster push. WWE was too deep into the son angle to turn back, so a back-up plan was made and carried out. That back-up plan? Hornswoggle.

Yes, what was going to be a career-changing story for a potential main event talent became a comedic afterthought, which eventually concluded with a JBL/Finlay WrestleMania match of all things. Hornswoggle as Vince McMahon's illegitimate son made little sense, and screamed of nothing more than lazy contingency booking.

It was also frustratingly underwhelming.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
