WWE had apparently reached their quota for generic bodyguard types in 1995, so they decided to give Jerry Lawler's henchmen an absurd backstory to go make him stand out from the Diesels of the company. So naturally they went with "evil dentist" as the de facto gimmick. Because what's more frightening than a guy with ironically bad teeth who wears scrub pants and a white smock? Even children, who are notoriously terrified of dentists, looked noticeably unfazed by the introduction of the drill-wielding dentist (complete with those stupid magnifying glasses and a horrible Jheri curl). Thankfully, this gimmick lasted about as long as Fake Diesel, and Glenn Jacobs eventually went on to play the genuinely fearsome Kane.
