As we’ve already touched upon, one line of reasoning behind Triple H’s actions could simply be that he was washing his hands of Seth Rollins. Furthermore, given that Rollins’ biggest supporters in recent weeks, months and even years, has been Triple H’s own wife, Stephanie McMahon, there’s a very real possibility that this could be the start of a matrimonial feud between the on-screen Mr and Mrs Helmsley.

Plus, that parting stare from Triple H to Steph in the moments after his betrayal of Rollins certainly lends a little more credence to this presumptive speculation.

Obviously this would be huge news and a major storyline going forward, but there are one or two arguments that suggest to me that this may not be the direction the company follows.

For one, this is of course a situation we’ve seen before. Triple H and Stephanie seemingly at odds, only for the latter to reveal her true colours—bamboozling even Vince McMahon himself when it first happened in 1999.

Also, as Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has pointed out, would Triple H really book himself into a break-up angle with his own wife? That doesn't quite sound like the smartest idea...
