9 Next WWE Steps For Dean Ambrose
3. Feud With Randy Orton
With his championship feud with AJ Styles wrapped up, Ambrose will be in search of a new direction.
Of course, given the size and composition of the SmackDown roster, that may not be as straightforward as it sounds. On the heel side of things, the main options include the directionless Bray Wyatt (a feud we’ve seen before) or a rivalry with The Miz for another stab at the Intercontinental Championship (again, something we’ve seen before). Baron Corbin could be a possible rival, but to be honest I’d rather not go there…
Meanwhile on the face side of the equation, having recently gone through John Cena, to me that only really leaves one worthy opponent to enter a program with Ambrose: Randy Orton.
Not only would this be a fresh feud (the pair haven’t faced off in singles action since a couple of meetings way back in the summer of 2014), but it would be an interesting mix of either man’s characters. Both Ambrose and Orton are two guys well-suited to tweener personas, meaning this could be a great opportunity to blend the borders between goodies and baddies and put together a compelling story between the two.
