While that Talking Smack promo and the lofty contractual demands have helped paint Miz as a major star, he could still do with some more empirical evidence to back it all up, and what better way than to give the champ a significant reign as Intercontinental Champion?

For all he’s enjoyed five stints with the belt around his waist, two of them lasted just a day, meaning that The Miz’s average reign as Intercontinental Champion currently stands at less than two months.

In the grand scheme of things, that’s really not that impressive, and it just makes it that little bit harder to take the guy seriously as a top talent.

So raising that average via by keeping the title on him for quite a while longer may go some way to rectifying that situation. And I realise that his current tenure with the belt is already longer than any of his previous reigns - in fact, it’s longer than all of them combined - but I still think another 150 days or so as champion could do his credibility the world of good.

And with that aforementioned momentum on his side, now’s the right time to make it happen.
