9 Old-Timers That Won Wrestling Gold (And Shouldn't Have)

8. Pat Patterson (WWE Hardcore Championship, 58)

Vince McMahon ECW Champion

Gerald Brisco doesn't deserve all of the blame for downgrading the WWE Hardcore Championship. No, just as much of it goes to his cohort, Pat Patterson.

There are a few reasons Patterson's involvement with the Hardcore division stands out as an even worse offense, beginning with the fact that Pat's career was much more impressive leading up to that point. So it made his utter embarrassment as the Hardcore champ that much harder to stomach.

Speaking of things that are hard to stomach, remember the Hardcore Evening Gown match between Patterson and Brisco at King of the Ring 2000? Of course you do. Anyone cursed with working retinas and a decent longterm memory will be unable to forget that abomination anytime soon.

Watching the former NWA legend Pat Patterson get pelvic thrusted into the corner by a dress-wearing Gerald Brisco is as grisly and scarring as any scene from The Walking Dead. And worst of all, that's the match Paterson lost the title.
