9 Promises AEW Have Made Since Launching (And HAVE Kept)

7. Ringside Presentation

Before Dynamite was launched, AEW promised that their weekly programming would largely be focused on what goes down "in and around the ring." UFC was brought up as a specific reference point. All in all, there'd be fewer backstage segments and invisible cameras than one might expect from American wrestling, with the promotion's most important developments going down in or around the ring. Again, this is something that they've delivered on.

The odd invisible camera segment has emerged on Dynamite, but only a couple. For the most part, the promotion's biggest promos and angles go down in the arena itself, giving the audience a direct connection impossible if they were viewing it through a video screen, and giving credence to the idea that AEW is to be treated more like a real sport than Sports Entertainment (one promise they haven't been so successful in keeping, actually).

Moments like Jon Moxley brawling Kenny Omega across the building's floor to drill him through a glass table show the hidden flexibility offered by this presentation style, though the focus has obviously shifted in the new empty arena era. Expect things to get back to normal once crowds return.
