9 Promises AEW Have Made Since Launching (And HAVE Kept)

5. Fewer Screwy Finishes

The 8 January 2020 episode of Dynamite attracted criticism for a number of reasons, one of which was a dopy distraction finish in Sammy Guevara vs. Christopher Daniels, as Pentagon Jr. hit the stage with a microphone, drawing Daniels' attention in a way that allowed 'The Spanish God' to intervene and steal the win.

It was the first time AEW had employed this kind of dreaded distraction finish since launching, hence why people weren't happy about it.

Despite this, AEW has held true on its promise to keep their finishes clean, with Tony Khan stating that he didn't want his product to rely on disqualifications, distractions, and "ridiculous referee bumps" too often. "Too often" is key, there, because it allows Guevara vs. Daniels as a rule-proving exception.

To date, the only AEW disqualification thus far came in the PAC vs. Kenny Omega Iron Man match - and even that was a tactic employed by 'The Bastard' to batter 'The Best Bout Machine' with a chair and wear him down for the rest of it. For the most part, AEW keeps it clean as promised.
