9 Promos That Killed Wrestlers' Careers

6. Brad Maddox And The Cocky Pr*cks Incident

Here's a lesson for all the young up-and-comers in the wrestling business: Just because your promo isn't being broadcast on television, that doesn't mean the things you say won't get you into trouble. Exhibit A: Brad Maddox.

Maddox toiled around in WWE for a few years in ancillary roles, as a referee, as RAW General Manager, and finally as one half of a jobber tag team. And maybe it's the fact that Maddox wasn't exactly lighting the wrestling world on fire that made it so easy to fire him for committing a rather slight infraction.

Before competing in a dark match in Indianapolis, Maddox cut a promo where he called the crowd a bunch of "cocky pr*cks". He was fired the very next day because Vince didn't appreciate the language he used.

Maddox didn't think what he said was inappropriate, especially considering his job was basically to warm up the crowd before the cameras started rolling. And it would be easy to pick out one or two things other superstars say on television each week that are worse than what he said that night.

But when you're that low on the totem pole, it doesn't take much to earn Vince's wrath.
