9 Promos That Killed Wrestlers' Careers

3. Stone Cold Chants "B-O-O-RING" During Lance Storm Match

There's no greater sin in the world of professional wrestling than being boring. In this over-the-top, soap opera world, you can be just about anything you want. You can be a supernatural gravedigger with a pyro fetish or a flashy pimp stuck in the '60s. You can be outrageously stupid, you can be excessively egotistical, hell, you can even be overwhelmingly bigoted.

But boring? Well that's the quickest way to find yourself without a job.

And that's why it was so unsettling to watch Stone Cold Steve Austin walk onto the ramp during a Lance Storm match and berate the ECW alum -- with a pillow and blanket in hand -- and start chanting "B-O-O-RING" at him for about five minutes.

Storm had been with WWE for a couple of years at this point, so this was well after the initial Invasion storyline where this would have made sense. Stone Cold comparing Storm's matches to "watching the grass grow" and his mid-nap, obnoxious snoring came off as unnecessarily mean-spirited here.

This promo kicked off a series of silly gimmick changes for Storm, including a Disco Inferno-style dancing schtick that he would never recover from. He was out of the WWE a year later and has spent the rest of his career working the indie circuit.
