9 Tales Hulk Hogan Just Told Ric Flair That Are Probably Bullsh*t

4. The Real Story Behind Bash At The Beach 2000

Now we get into one of the most discussed and debated incidents of the Monday Night Wars. Hogan says his contract was expiring at the beginning of the following year and they were building toward a match between he and Flair at Starrcade 2000, but before that he had to finish up his program with Jeff Jarrett. John Laurinaitis came over to his house to go over options for the finish of his Bash match vs. Jarrett, and he said John's opinion was that Hogan should beat him clean. He then explained to Laurinaitis what they were building toward and he was presented with two alternative finishes, one of which involved a run-in from Scott Steiner. Hulkster vetoed those choices and decided to play his creative control card - which he says he NEVER used - and let them know he would be beating Jeff before moving on to Ric Flair via a letter sent to the WCW office. He claims that Russo's solution was to have Jarrett lay down and then wait for Hulk to leave the arena before coming out and cutting his scathing promo, which led to the infamous court case that was eventually settled. Flair adds "I didn't know about that! Where was I? I must have been wrestling Konnan or something."
