9 Tales Hulk Hogan Just Told Ric Flair That Are Probably Bullsh*t

2. Dusty Rhodes Joining WWE

Talk turns to the late Dusty Rhodes and his joining the WWE. Hogan is asked what the locker room's take was on Rhodes coming up north and if he thought the polka dots gimmick was a rib. He praises The American Dream before saying that sometimes no one else sees Vince's vision at first but it ends up getting over, referencing Big Bossman and Doink as examples. Hulk says he isn't sure if it was a rib or a shoot, but he thought Rhodes was talented enough to make it work. He adds that he didn't know what the end game behind the gimmick was, but says that he knocked it out of the park because he was so talented. Flair says that Dusty never told him the gimmick was a rib, so he doesn't think it was, and then goes on to talk about how well-thought of Dusty was by all his peers and everyone within the business. Hulk calls Dusty Rhodes the reason he got in the wrestling business, saying if he wasn't on TV that week he'd be upset until the next time he was on.
