9 Things GFW Must Do Better Than Impact

1. Have A Better Creative Team

It all boils down to this. Some fans were optimistic that Jarrett and Mantell were returning to power in Impact, but there was never a real reason to be excited for it.

Yes, many more people did watch the promotion when they were in control years ago, but at no point during their “peak” was the company ever profitable. Not one single year. You just can’t say they were successful at their jobs.

Because of their atrocious and haphazard booking of TNA from 2002-2004, the company nearly went under many times. If it wasn't due to a large investment from Dixie Carter's parents, they would have sunk the entire promotion. And yet, here we are again, 13 years later with the same team still in charge.

If Jarrett really was a good businessman, then he’d realize he isn’t capable of steering the creative team. He never was. He needs new minds giving him new ideas, along with a new approach to booking his shows. The business seems to have passed him by.

As seen at Slammiversary, he’s still fixated on ending every major match with a stream of outside nonsense. It harkens back to the Asylum days of TNA and that major booking flaw has always stuck with him. He’s also still enamored with former WWE talent, as Alberto El Patron and Bobby Lashley took the top spots in the biggest match of the year. His same blind spots remain.

Really, the major question we should be asking is how much money does Anthem have to invest in this thing? Because unless they're willing to change the creative team, history says they’re about to lose a lot of it.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
