9 Things I Learned From Watching WCW Greed
7. The Magnificent Seven Were A Strange Stable
Right until the end, WCW's obsession with big stables of power-hungry individuals continued unabated. The last example of this was the Magnificent Seven, a group led by on-screen CEO Ric Flair, WCW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner, United States Champion Rick Steiner, Lex Luger, Buff Bagwell, Jeff Jarrett and Road Warrior Animal.
The group came together at the previous PPV as a means to make sure Steiner kept the top title, but Sid made sure this happened by horrifically breaking his leg coming off the top rope. Don't google that.
It was a strange group of personalities, and copious amounts of airtime on Greed was dedicated to an ongoing story where someone was laying out members of the Magnificent Seven backstage. The story was never resolved, as WWF soon purchased WCW.
Knowing WCW at the time, the safe money would be on the mystery attacker being Vince Russo, Ernest Miller or, I don't know, Angry Allan.
