9 Things We Learned From Bruce Prichard's In Your House 8: Beware Of Dog Podcast

1. The Ultimate Warrior Was Kept Off The PPV & Saved For Raw

Ultimate Warrior Goldust

Joking that some backstage blamed a WCW conspiracy for the power outage, a laughing Bruce then turned his attention to why The Ultimate Warrior wasn't on the pay-per-view.

The very next night after In Your House 8, WCW's Monday Nitro show was expanding to a 2-hour format, and that meant the WWF had to keep some big surprises in store for Monday Night Raw. Warrior was one of them, and it was decided that he should work a dark match against Owen Hart in South Carolina straight after Beware Of Dog instead of being on TV.

Looking to counteract WCW and give Raw a jolt in the arm, the WWF had Warrior confront Goldust at the top of the 60 minute program. Theoretically, that would give the company an edge over Nitro, because WCW surely had grand plans for their own souped up show.

Instead of booking Warrior for an appearance on a run-of-the-mill monthly pay-per-view, he was saved for a ratings battle 24 hours later.
