Giant Gonzales - complete with his hilariously-bad muscle outfit - will forever be regarded as one of The Undertaker's worst ever opponents. Stinking out each building, the pay-per-view matches between the pair at WrestleMania IX and SummerSlam 1993 were comically lame.

However, such shoddy match quality didn't stop fans attending live events in their droves to see what would happen when 'Taker faced such a giant beast.

Right before 'Mania IX, The Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzales was promoted heavily on the house show circuit; one of the featured matches on non-televised cards across North America, the agonisingly sluggish bouts between both men actually pulled in some decent crowds for the WWF.

Prichard reasons this is precisely why Vince McMahon proceeded with Gonzales even when his in-ring work was visibly awful; the boss realised that the WWF's core fan base were willing to pay for the freak show element his new giant provided, and he enjoyed the financial success matches pitting Undertaker vs. Gonzales had around the country.
