9 Things We Learned From Jim Cornette On The Ross Report

5. Charlotte Needs To Get Rid Of Ric Flair

Okay, the point isn't quite made in such words, but the feeling is clear.

The advances made in the presentation of women's wrestling in WWE are long overdue, but it is far from perfect. Cornette describes Charlotte as the 'Ronda Rousey' of the division, and as such feels it is time to remove her father from the picture.

There are a couple of reasons for this. One is that she may be suffering from 'Sable Mero Syndrome', where the attraction on the outside garners more attention than the one on the inside. Managers and valets exist to accentuate the talents of their client, not to be the most over part of the act.

Charlotte may be hampered by her father in this respect, not because of her own abilities but because Ric F'n Flair is on the outside, wooing up a storm.

The other reason is a more old-school business idea, but it still stands. Cornette feels that what is seen on TV really needs to be seen at house shows as well. His logic is clear and correct. If he sees Charlotte and Ric Flair on TV and buys tickets for a house show where the Women's Champion is booked, the lack of Ric would then be disappointing.

Despite these little qualms, both JR and Cornette applaud the improvement in the presentation of women, and so they should.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
