9 Things We May Never See In WWE Again

5. The Curb Stomp

Another finisher that we’ve seen banned more recently, and for very similar reasons to Randy Orton’s punt kick, is Seth Rollins’ much-loved curb stomp manoeuvre.

Again, this one possesses a fair amount of violent imagery, not least because the name is also used for the act of placing someone’s jaw on a curb and stomping on the back of their head (which I wouldn’t advise Googling, by the way). It’s an act of violence that has been referenced in American History X, The Sopranos and the Gears of War Xbox franchise, while there have also been high-profile instances in real-life of the assault causing injury or even death.

With an association like that, it’s no wonder then that this one was banned.

Although, that’s not the actual reason for WWE opting to scrap the move. During his appearance on Talk is Jericho, Rollins revealed that Vince McMahon spoke of the fact that he could have imagined Shane trying the move on Stephanie when they were kids, and naturally causing a fair amount of damage.

I guess if your boss is having reservations like that, it’s probably a good idea to nip it in the bud before things get any worse.
