9 Things WWE Must Do To Bring Back Causal Wrestling Fans

2. Give Wrestlers Creative Freedom

It's probably the world's worst-kept secret that the current promos we hear are scripted almost word for word. From John Cena's monologue about how he rises above hate to Bray Wyatt sharing the details of the latest world he's eaten, it's all apart of the script. Basically, all the wrestlers in WWE today are simply characters to the writing team to pen lines for. There rarely is any freedom for them to add their own personal touches to the character. Sure, wrestlers may have creative input to some degree, but once they're handed the script for tonight's show, they're pretty much expected to know their lines by heart. The Rock's recent appearance on Raw reportedly drew some heat from WWE management (whether or not it's true, I don't know), but it was simply refreshing to see a man get given a camera, a mic and just letting him do his thing. Of course The Rock is probably one of the most charismatic stars of all-time, but we can't even compare him to the current roster because they're simply not given the freedom to say what they think. Again, no disrespect to Roman Reigns, but the current material he's being lumbered with, such as his 'Believe That' catchphrase and that God-awful 'Tater Tots' insult, is just embarrassing. Just hand the performers some bullet points, stuff that they need to cover in their promo, and then let them do as they please with the mic in hand. It would seriously benefit the wrestlers, and gives them a chance to play with the crowd as well as flesh-out their own character.
