9 Things You Didn't Know About WWE No Way Out

7. Four Team Ladder Rematch Was Scrapped In 2007

Fans watching Armageddon 2006, which was set to be another humdrum effort with a subpar card, were given an early Christmas present when SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long came out and announced that the scheduled Paul London & Brian Kendrick versus William Regal & Dave Taylor match would now be contested under ladder rules. Oh, and the Hardy Boyz and MNM were being added, too. Just for kicks. What followed was one of the most exciting matches of the year (a match which has unfortunately become somewhat infamous due to the gruesome facial injuries suffered by Joey Mercury). It was the best thing on the card by a country mile so, naturally, WWE wanted to do it again. The rematch, involving the same four teams, was booked for No Way Out 2007 (by which point Joey Mercury's face had almost healed). For some reason, however, WWE decided to pull the match from the card on the week of the show. Apparently Vince McMahon made the decision that The Hardys and MNM would no longer be teaming, and he wanted all four competitors to go back to singles competition post-haste. Once that call was made, the Tag Title ladder match didn't make a lot of sense, so Stephanie McMahon booked Deuce and Dominio to challenge Londrick instead. The kicker? The Hardys and MNM teamed up anyway in the opening six-man match (also featuring Chris Benoit and MVP). Way to get our hopes up only to give us Deuce and Domino, WWE!
