Sorry, literally every other major wrestling outfit worldwide, but you've been beaten to the punch.

This writer has previously gone on record (only a week or so ago, as a matter of fact) as saying he couldn't believe WWE hadn't already tied 22-year old Austin Theory down a long-term contract. He has a great look, has proved himself in companies like Evolve and sparkled on the WWE Network stage as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations in July.

It was surely only a matter of time. Theory has everything WWE are looking for in a modern pro wrestler, and he'll only get better with more seasoning. One thing to note is that he's still the Evolve Champion; that hasn't changed even though he's now exclusively a WWE talent. Who knows how they'll juggle that one, but Evolve head Gabe Sapolsky has a great relationship with the big boys so it's unlikely to be a problem.

Theory just became the new WWN Champ at that aforementioned Network special too, and he's definitely ideal for NXT. It'll be interesting to see just how long he spends at the PC before WWE deem him ready and get him booked on shows.
