There are some things in life that we simply don't want the world to remember. For us mere mortals this may be actions when inebriated, comments said under duress, or maybe even regrettable reactions to pressure. Either way, even the most pious of readers will know that somewhere in their closet remains something they'd prefer stayed put.

For the superstars of the WWE however, this can get a whole lot more embarrassing. The WWE memory may not be so long when it comes to the creative side of things, but the less celebrated moments from a WWE superstar's past are never too far away. The main difference? When these are brought up, they are brought up on front of an international audience.

On a whole host of occasions those dastardly heels have brought blasts from the pasts back in order to embarrass, humiliate or demoralise their opponents. Whilst this usually only serves to spur on the babyface, every now and then these moments do give us the fans something of a nice nostalgia pop too.

Yeah, the trope even encouraged us to cheer for the Spirit Squad, and to embrace Gangrel and Viscera. Here are nine times a WWE superstar's past came back to haunt them. (And this is before we even mention wrestlers' real lives coming back to haunt them, which they so often do.)

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
